Efrain and Astrid weren’t aware that the kite festival was taking place when they arrived at Los Angeles State Historic Park, but they were pleasantly surprised and decided to make a day of it. “We’re thrilled to see that space is being held for the community to gather, everywhere we look, there are people from all walks of life” Efrain said. As a middle school teacher, he noticed a lack of safe places for kids to gather after school. “A well-maintained park becomes an important space for kids to commune. The city has invested so much into this park, that people will go out of their way to be here. It’s important to maintain it for future generations and to make it easier for them to access nearby parks.”
