Rae and her Daughters

“Most of the times that I’ve been to LA State Historic Park have usually been about organizing around worker’s’ rights or people’s rights. The focus is to identify what we need [in order] to be able to change our communities to actually fit the needs of the people. So when I think about the park the words that come to mind are “people power.”

I love seeing people at the park.  It’s so good to be with people from all around the city with different interests and from different places just to celebrate and fly kites. It’s right next to Chinatown too. Our family is part Chinese, and so there’s some history there for our own people who have migrated here for a long time. We’re all wearing our Chinese outfits today or red in celebration.”
