We are currently in the fifth week of Clockshop’s five-week Summer Arts & Advocacy Youth Fellowship with our stellar group of twelve fellows. Each week, a new theme structures the programming, in which guest artists, community members, and the program’s co-facilitators host a variety of workshops providing opportunities to consider the theme through various lenses. Fellows return regularly to the week’s guiding questions, such as, “what role can art play in connecting people to place?,” expanding their answers and integrating new understandings.
During the final two weeks of the fellowship, fellows will collaborate to host an event for the community, showcasing what they have learned throughout the program. Save the date to join us, Friday August 9 from 5:00-7:30 PM, in celebrating their vision at the program’s culmination. The event, “Voices of NELA: Advocacy Fair” will engage visitors in activity and discussion about different topics that the fellows are passionate about: from housing justice, to mutual aid (visit the fellows’ community closet!), to environmental justice, to the power of art and story to change narratives about place.
Drop in for food, activities, and conversation, and to learn more about Clockshop’s youth programming. If you are able, please bring lightly used clothing and shoes to donate to the community closet.
