The Urban Voices Project Choir is composed of artists and performers from Skid Row, the epicenter of the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles. Throughout the year, they share the healing power of music with audiences inside and outside the neighborhood raising awareness about individuals living in the condition of homelessness, marginalized by mental health issues, poverty, and unemployment. The choir is one of many programs presented by Urban Voices Project, a non-profit that offers free music classes and singing workshops in a community health clinic. The Urban Voices Project has found recognition in the front page of the Los Angeles Times, was featured on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered, The New Yorker, and recently, NBC’s Dateline and The Today Show.
