This month, join us for a unique evening of adventurous music for string quartet by cellist and composer Chris Votek.

Chris Votek is versed in many musical idioms from around the world, and has toured five continents in experimental pop, Arabic, jazz, and western classical ensembles. A devoted student of north Indian vocal music, Votek’s musical vocabulary is informed by his ongoing adaptation of this ancient tradition to the cello. The compositions that he will be performing for Hear Sunday are world premieres exploring the surprisingly harmonious space between distant music cultures. This performance will feature wild Up players Andrew Tholl and Adrianne Pope on violin, Linnea Powell on viola, Derek Stein on cello, and Brian Walsh on bass clarinet.
