Air Out is a new performance by $3.33 (Celia Hollander) developed for the Bowtie. Featuring three performers in three parked cars, using car stereos and a mobile audience, the piece adapts an iconic symbol of isolation as a form to explore openness, harmony, and synchronicity. Whereas the isolation of a car usually negates the experience of interacting with the larger human ecosystem, in Air Out, performers and audience share space and time.
Performers:
Casey Anderson / Subaru Outback
Celia Hollander / Toyota Corolla
John Eagle / Dodge Charger
This event is curated and co-produced by the experimental music festival The Dog Star Orchestra.
Celia Hollander is a Los Angeles based artist working primarily with audio recordings, scores, sound installations, and text. Using the moniker $3.33, her work critically engages ways that music and sound-based art can be understood as a type of architectural design that cultivates social connection.
