This program offers LA youth an opportunity to experience nature and write about it at the Bowtie.
Writing in Nature is a creative writing program for youth ages 12 to 16 happening at the Bowtie over the course of two Saturdays in September. Through physical exploration and writing exercises, youth participants will write, think, and experience how being in a different geographical space affects their bodies and the way they envision Los Angeles.
Under the guidance and mentoring of a published writer and educator, each youth participant will produce three works of writing. The following week, they will share one of those completed pieces at Clockshop’s Reading by Moonrise event, an outdoor reading that happens around a campfire. Additionally, youth participants will work collaboratively to create a zine of their writing, including visual illustrations, photographs, and/or other artifacts from their time together.
This workshop is FREE and spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis! If you’re interested in your kids participating, please fill out this form, or email Lindsey Eichenberger at email@example.com. The deadline to sign up is Monday, September 2nd.
